In the book of Exodus, Israel is not simply set free from slavery in Egypt, they're set free for service to God. Despite what culture says, true freedom is not found in a kind of self-autonomous individualism that simply says 'You do you'. That just leads to a different kind of slavery. True freedom is being liberated from slavery to sin to serve the only master whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light.
