100 years on, after returning home from Babylon, Israel find themselves disappointment and disaffected by how things have turned out. It seems to them that God has only been half-hearted towards them, and so in turn, they are half-hearted towards Him. The first thing God says to His people is, "I have loved you". He has loved them by choosing them to be His people.
